SOCIAL SKILLS

Audience:

Current Registered Psychologists, Registered Provisional Psychologists, and Masters level Clinical Psychology/Applied Psychology/Educational Psychology/Counseling Psychology students, resource teachers.

Prerequisites:

Masters level introductory course in formal assessment.

Objectives:

  • Learn and understand what the BASC-3 and ABAS-3 measure
  • Learn and understand how to interpret results of the BASC-3 and ABAS-3
  • Practice interpreting results
  • Guided practice and feedback on reporting the results in professional writen reports

Group I: 8 to 10 year olds:

Goals/Purpose:

  • Date/time: October 11 and 25 October 2025 - from 9am to 12pm
  • Cost: : $720 + GST
  • To help children improve their social interactions at home, with friends and family, and at school/in the community.

Program Outline:

  • The 8-week program will focus on improving the child’s social skills and teaching them new skills and ways of interacting with others.
  • Topics covered include:
    Emotional Regulation, Mixed Emotion, Distress Tolerance, Problem Solving, Peer Interactions, Actions and Reactions in Different Social Situation, Friendship Skills, Bullying, and Feeling Part of a Group.

Program Features:

  • Small Group Sizes (Minimum of 3)
  • Individualized goals for each child
  • Written Evaluation of Progress at the end of the Program
  • Small Group Sizes (Maximum of 6)
  • Parent Time—Opportunity for Parents to mingle over tea/coffee while their child is in group.
  • Each Session will be 1.5 hours

Group II: 10 to 12 year olds: What:

  • An 8-week group-based program for children who struggle with meaningful social interactions.

WHY:

  • To help children improve social interactions with others.

WHEN:

  • Saturdays from September 29th to November 23rd Excluding October 12th)

COST:

  • $720 (including a deposit of $150).
  • Cost may be covered by extended health benefits plans – check with your health care provider.

Social Skills Group is an 8-week group based program for children who struggle with meaningful social interactions.

The group sessions will be held on Saturdays, from October 25th to December 13th, 2025.

Cost

Fee for the program is $1,200.00 ($100/hr) which is to be paid in full prior to the start of the sessions.
