SOCIAL SKILLS

Audience:

Current Registered Psychologists, Registered Provisional Psychologists, and Masters level Clinical Psychology/Applied Psychology/Educational Psychology/Counseling Psychology students, resource teachers.

Prerequisites:

Masters level introductory course in formal assessment.

Objectives:

  • Learn and understand what the BASC-3 and ABAS-3 measure
  • Learn and understand how to interpret results of the BASC-3 and ABAS-3
  • Practice interpreting results
  • Guided practice and feedback on reporting the results in professional writen reports

Social Skills Group :

Social Skills Group is an 8-week group based program for children who struggle with meaningful social interactions.

Goal/Purpose

The Goal/Purpose of the group is to help children improve their social interactions at home, with friends and family, and at school/in the community.

Program Outline

The 8-week program will focus on improving the child’s social skills and teaching them new skills and ways of interacting with others.

  • Group Sizes Minimum of 3 and Maximum of 6
  • Each Session will be 1.5 hours

Topics covered

  • Initiating Social Interaction with Peers
  • Problem-Solving in Social Situations
  • Understanding Non-Verbal Communication
  • Friendship Maintenance Skills

Groups

  • Group I ( 8 To 10 Year Old )
  • Group II ( 10 to 12 year old )​

The group sessions will be held on Saturdays, from October 25th to December 13th, 2025.
